Fatima Mata School of Nursing

The mission of School of Nursing, Fatima Mata Mission Hospital is the brain child of Fr. Thomas Kuttiyani CMI with the support of Fr. Joseph Mattam CMI in the year 1995. Fatima Mata Nursing School was the district’s first Nursing School among the Private Sector. The school aims in planting and harvesting well qualified, skillful and eminent nurses to meet the health needs of the population irrespective of caste, creed, race, gender and religion. To enable further professional growth, there is a felt-need to develop a deep pride in Nursing Profession among the students, with the approval from Indian Nursing Council & Kerala Nursing & Midwives Council. The school has successfully trained and sent out twenty-one batches of students and they are rendering fruitful services in various parts of the world.The general nursing and midwifery Course with duration of 3 years is recognized by the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and Indian Nursing Council.

    • The candidate on completion of GNM course will be able to:
      • Asses the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
      • Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.
      • Promote self care in people under their care.
      • Apply problem solving techniques in nursing practice.
      • Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care.
    • Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
    • Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skill in her work
    • Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative, preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care services.
    • Demonstrate interest in activities of professional organization.
    • Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development.
    • Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.
    • Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other members of health team and community.
    • Assist in research activities.
